A retail onboarding program has to work around the reality of a live store. Customers, staff, operations and production all have to move together without interrupting the shopping experience.

A store is never truly still. Customers are moving, teams are working and retail operations continue in real time. For Spencer’s onboarding program, our challenge was to create a controlled production environment inside an active retail ecosystem without making the store feel like a production set.
The Challenge
Spencer’s required a professional and consistent onboarding program executed directly at store locations. The most critical challenge was setting up the required production environment inside operational stores while working around customers, employees, store layouts and ongoing retail activity. Every minute of setup had to be carefully planned because the production could not compromise the normal functioning of the store.
Our Solution
Steller Chronicles approached the assignment as a live-environment production challenge rather than a conventional studio shoot. The team studied each location, identified practical setup zones and designed a workflow that could be assembled quickly and operated efficiently. Instead of asking the store to adapt to the production, we adapted the production to the store.

Understanding the live retail environment before positioning the production.
Designing a compact setup that worked with customers, staff and store movement.
Maintaining creative control while keeping the production footprint minimal.
Creating a consistent onboarding visual experience across the production workflow.
Execution
Our production team handled on-location coordination, compact setup, lighting, camera positioning, subject flow and creative direction within the operational retail environment. Equipment placement was planned to minimise obstruction, while the team continuously coordinated with store personnel to maintain a smooth customer and employee experience. The result was a production workflow that could move quickly from setup to shooting and from shooting to breakdown without unnecessarily disturbing store operations.

Results
The Spencer’s onboarding program was executed through a disciplined in-store production approach that balanced creative quality with operational practicality. By treating every store as a live environment, our team was able to create a consistent visual experience while managing the realities of retail production on location.
